New Delhi: In his Independence Day message, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, the Grand Mufti of India, emphasized the importance of unity and harmony as the driving forces behind the nation's progress and achievements. He highlighted that India's independence and self-governance were the results of the collective efforts of all Indians, united in a single cause despite their many diversities.
As the nation prepares to hoist the National Flag in commemoration of past victories, Sheikh Abubakr urged citizens to reflect on their responsibilities towards the country. According to him, only by embracing these values can India continue to thrive and progress.
Sheikh Abubakr also pointed out that the goal should be for India to become a global power, not just in terms of economic strength, but through the strength and beauty of its values. He stressed that a united and cohesive society is essential to overcoming the persistent challenges of poverty, illiteracy, and inequality, and to leading the world in science and technology.
Reflecting on the recent disaster in Kerala, Sheikh Abubakr expressed sorrow over the loss of many lives. However, he also praised the unity, cooperation, and community spirit displayed in the face of the tragedy, which has provided hope and strength to the people. He stated that this year's Independence Day is a reminder that, when united, the nation can overcome any obstacle.
