Kuala Lampur: The Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, received an enthusiastic reception during his visit to Malaysia, where he was invited as the chief guest by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Arriving at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang via a chartered flight, he was warmly greeted by representatives from the Malaysian government and Markaz Global Chapter. The Grand Mufti was then escorted to the Prime Minister's office, where discussions were held regarding cultural and educational exchanges between Malaysia and India. Malaysia, known for its inclusive approach, embraces its minority communities, which constitute approximately nine percent of the population.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral relations with India across various fields and acknowledged an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Anwar Ibrahim also commended Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad for his extensive efforts in education, social work, and cultural activities. Both dignitaries exchanged tokens of appreciation. Accompanying the Grand Mufti were Dr. A.P Abdul Hakkim Azhari, Managing Director of Markaz Knowledge City; Mr. Abdussalam, CEO of Knowledge City; Kuttur Abdurrahman Haji, Chairman of the Jamiul Futuh Maintenance Committee; and other officials. The Grand Mufti is scheduled to participate in various official events during his visit. One notable event will be the Sahih-ul-Bukhari Scholars Conference, where Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad will deliver the keynote address. The conference, to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, is expected to be attended by Religious Affairs Minister Dr. Muhammad Nahim Bin Mukhtar, Sheikh Dr. Usama Al Azhari, Mufti Dr. Luqman bin Haji Abdullah, and thousands of scholars from Malaysia.
